Exposure
Exposure refers to the total amount of capital at risk in a particular trade, asset class, or market. Managing exposure is a key component of risk management, as excessive exposure to a single position or sector can lead to significant losses.
Example
“The portfolio manager noticed that 40% of the fund's exposure was concentrated in tech stocks, so she diversified into healthcare and energy to reduce sector-specific risk.”
