Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC)
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is the branch of the Federal Reserve responsible for setting U.S. monetary policy, including the federal funds rate. Its meetings, held eight times per year, are among the most closely watched events in financial markets.
