Protective Put
An options strategy where you buy a put option on stock you already own, creating a price floor. Acts as insurance against a decline in the stock's value.
Example
“An investor holding 100 shares of NVDA at $450 buys a $420 put for $8 per share as a protective put, limiting their maximum downside to $30 per share plus the premium paid.”
