Revaluation

An upward adjustment of a currency's exchange rate relative to a baseline, such as the gold standard or another currency. In accounting, it refers to adjusting the book value of an asset to reflect its current market value.

Example

When China revalued the yuan upward by 2% against the dollar, Chinese exporters saw their goods become more expensive abroad, while importers benefited from stronger purchasing power.
