FOMC Meeting

An FOMC meeting is a scheduled gathering of the Federal Open Market Committee where members vote on U.S. monetary policy, including interest rate decisions. These meetings occur eight times per year and are among the most anticipated events for traders worldwide.

Example

The trader closed all open positions 30 minutes before the FOMC meeting announcement, knowing that the interest rate decision could cause massive volatility in both directions.
