Initial Jobless Claims

A weekly U.S. economic report measuring the number of individuals filing for unemployment insurance for the first time. It is a leading indicator of labor market health and overall economic conditions.

Example

For example, if Initial Jobless Claims unexpectedly spike to 300,000 from 220,000, stock markets may sell off as traders fear a weakening labor market and potential recession.
