Russell 2000 Index (RUT)
A stock market index that tracks the performance of approximately 2,000 small-capitalization U.S. companies. It is widely used as a benchmark for small-cap stocks and an indicator of domestic economic health.
Example
“When the Russell 2000 outperforms the S&P 500, it often signals broad economic optimism since small-cap companies are more sensitive to domestic growth conditions than multinational large-caps.”
