Stagflation
An economic condition characterized by slow or stagnant economic growth, high unemployment, and rising inflation occurring simultaneously. Stagflation is particularly challenging for policymakers because remedies for one issue often worsen another.
Example
“Fears of stagflation gripped markets as GDP growth slowed to 0.5% while inflation remained above 6%, leaving the central bank in a difficult position on interest rate policy.”
