Turkmenistan Manat (TMT)
The official currency of Turkmenistan, abbreviated as TMT and issued by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan. The manat operates under a tightly managed exchange rate regime, with the government maintaining an official peg that often diverges from black-market rates. Turkmenistan's economy is heavily dependent on natural gas exports, making the currency sensitive to energy commodity prices.
Example
“Official USD/TMT rates remained fixed at 3.50, though unofficial market rates indicated the manat was trading at a significant discount.”
