Uruguay Peso (UYU)

The official currency of Uruguay, abbreviated as UYU and issued by the Central Bank of Uruguay. The peso operates under a managed float regime where the central bank intervenes to smooth excessive volatility. Uruguay's economy is driven by agriculture, particularly beef and soy exports, and the currency is sensitive to commodity price fluctuations and economic conditions in neighbouring Brazil and Argentina.

Example

USD/UYU eased to 38.50 after Uruguay reported a strong quarter for beef exports, increasing dollar inflows and supporting the peso.
