Weak High
A price high formed on a chart that shows signs of insufficient buying conviction, typically characterised by overlapping candles, declining volume, or the presence of significant selling activity (as seen in order flow data) near the high. In ICT (Inner Circle Trader) and smart money concepts, a weak high is expected to be taken out as it represents an area of resting liquidity from stop losses placed above the high. Traders target weak highs as likely draw-on-liquidity levels.
Example
“The trader identified the prior swing high at $48.50 as a weak high due to the lack of displacement on its formation, expecting price to sweep above it to grab buy-side liquidity.”
