Westpac-MI Consumer Sentiment

A monthly survey-based measure of consumer confidence in Australia, jointly produced by Westpac Banking Corporation and the Melbourne Institute. The index is based on telephone interviews covering respondents' views on personal finances, economic conditions, and buying intentions. Australian dollar traders monitor this release as a leading indicator of consumer spending trends and potential implications for Reserve Bank of Australia monetary policy.
