Bangladeshi Taka (BDT)

The official currency of Bangladesh, abbreviated BDT and subdivided into 100 poisha. It is issued and regulated by Bangladesh Bank, the country's central bank. The taka operates under a managed float exchange rate system where Bangladesh Bank intervenes periodically to maintain stability against the US dollar, and remittance inflows from Bangladeshi workers abroad are a major source of foreign currency supply supporting its value.

Example

The Bangladeshi Taka weakened against the US dollar after the central bank allowed a controlled depreciation to narrow the gap between official and parallel market exchange rates.
