Crypto is short for cryptocurrency, a broad term encompassing any digital form of money that uses cryptography to secure transactions such as buying, selling, transferring, and staking. Cryptocurrencies operate on decentralized blockchain networks without the need for traditional intermediaries like banks. The term is also commonly used to refer to the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem, including tokens, DeFi protocols, NFTs, and related technologies.
