Cryptography
Cryptography is the practice and study of techniques for securing communication and data from unauthorized access. In the context of blockchain and cryptocurrency, cryptographic algorithms such as SHA-256 and elliptic curve cryptography are used to secure transactions, protect wallet private keys, and ensure the integrity of data stored on the blockchain. Without cryptography, it would be impossible to verify ownership or prevent double-spending of digital assets.
Example
“When a Bitcoin user sends a transaction, cryptography ensures that only the owner of the private key can authorize the transfer, while anyone on the network can verify the transaction's validity using the corresponding public key.”
