Digital Currency

Digital currency, also known as digital cash or electronic money, is any form of currency that exists only in electronic or digital form and has no physical counterpart like coins or banknotes. It encompasses cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), and virtual currencies used in online platforms. Digital currencies enable instant peer-to-peer transfers across borders and are increasingly being adopted for everyday transactions.

Example

China's digital yuan (e-CNY) is a central bank digital currency that allows citizens to make everyday purchases using a mobile app without needing physical cash.
