ERC-20
ERC-20 is the most widely adopted token standard on the Ethereum blockchain, defining a set of rules that fungible tokens must follow to ensure compatibility with wallets, exchanges, and decentralized applications. It enables developers to create interchangeable tokens that can be transferred, approved, and tracked uniformly across the Ethereum ecosystem.
Example
“The DeFi project launched its governance token as an ERC-20 token, allowing it to be immediately listed on Uniswap and stored in any Ethereum-compatible wallet like MetaMask.”
