Fakeout
A fakeout is a false breakout where price briefly moves beyond a key support or resistance level but quickly reverses back. Fakeouts trap traders who entered on the breakout and are a common occurrence in range-bound or low-volume markets.
Example
“Price broke above the $50,000 resistance on BTC but immediately reversed back below it within minutes — a classic fakeout that stopped out breakout traders before the real move came later.”
