Flat
In trading, flat means having no open position in a given market or instrument. A trader who is 'flat' has closed all positions and has no exposure to price movement. It can also refer to a market that is trading sideways with little directional movement.
Example
“After closing his last EUR/USD position for a small profit, the trader went flat ahead of the weekend, preferring to avoid the risk of holding positions over the two-day market closure.”
