Gas

In cryptocurrency, gas refers to the unit of measurement for the computational effort required to execute transactions or smart contracts on the Ethereum network. Users pay gas fees in ETH to compensate miners/validators for processing their transactions.

Example

When Ethereum network activity spiked during a popular NFT mint, gas costs surged to over 200 gwei, making simple token transfers cost more than $50 in fees.
