Hard Landing
An economic scenario where aggressive monetary tightening (such as rapid interest rate hikes) causes a sharp economic slowdown or recession, as opposed to a gradual soft landing.
Example
“Traders feared a hard landing after the Federal Reserve raised rates by 75 basis points for the fourth consecutive meeting, sending the S&P 500 into a sharp decline.”
