Leverage
The use of borrowed capital to increase the potential return of an investment. While leverage amplifies gains, it also amplifies losses.
Example
“Using 10x leverage, a trader turned a $1,000 margin deposit into a $10,000 position — when the asset rose 5%, the profit was $500 instead of $50.”
