MEV

Maximal Extractable Value — the profit that block producers (miners/validators) can extract by reordering, including, or excluding transactions in a block. Originally called 'Miner Extractable Value'.

Example

A validator captured $50,000 in MEV by reordering transactions in a block to front-run a large DEX swap, executing their own trade first to profit from the price impact.
