Monetary Policy Committee (MPC)

A committee within a central bank responsible for making decisions on interest rates and other monetary policy measures. Examples include the Bank of England's MPC and the Federal Reserve's FOMC.

Example

The Bank of England's MPC voted 6-3 to raise interest rates by 25 basis points, and the split vote caused the British Pound to sell off as traders expected a less hawkish path.
