NAAIM Exposure Index

A weekly survey by the National Association of Active Investment Managers measuring the average exposure to US equity markets among active managers. Values range from -200 (fully short) to +200 (fully leveraged long).

Example

When the NAAIM Exposure Index dropped to 25, it signaled that professional managers were heavily underweight equities, which contrarian traders interpreted as a potential buying opportunity.
