Net Income
The total profit of a company after all expenses, taxes, interest, and costs have been deducted from total revenue. Net income is a key metric on the income statement and is used to calculate earnings per share (EPS), making it critical for stock valuation.
Example
“Apple reported net income of $23 billion for the quarter, beating analyst estimates by 8% and sending its stock price up 5% in after-hours trading.”
