Retail Trader
An individual, non-institutional trader who buys and sells financial instruments using personal funds through a brokerage account. Retail traders typically trade smaller volumes compared to institutional participants.

“A retail trader using a $10,000 account on TD Ameritrade places swing trades on tech stocks, while institutional traders at hedge funds deploy millions on the same names.”
