Tapering
The gradual reduction of central bank asset purchases. Occurs when the central bank begins to wind down quantitative easing measures.
Example
“When the Federal Reserve announced it would begin tapering its $120 billion monthly bond purchases, equity markets pulled back on fears of reduced liquidity.”
