Terminal Rate
The peak interest rate that a central bank is expected to reach during a tightening cycle before pausing or reversing course. Markets closely watch terminal rate expectations to price bonds and equities.

“Fed funds futures implied a terminal rate of 5.25%, leading bond traders to position for an eventual pivot once that level was reached.”
