Transaction Date
The date on which a trade is executed. It differs from the settlement date, which is when the actual transfer of assets and payment occurs.
Example
“The stock was purchased on a Monday (transaction date), but the actual settlement — when shares and cash changed hands — occurred two days later on Wednesday under T+2 rules.”
