Yemeni Rial (YER)

The official currency of Yemen, abbreviated as YER and issued by the Central Bank of Yemen. The rial has experienced severe depreciation due to the ongoing civil conflict, economic disruption, and the operational split of the central bank between competing authorities. Yemen's economy is heavily dependent on oil exports and remittances, and the currency's value varies significantly between government-controlled and opposition-controlled areas.

Example

USD/YER traded near 1,700 in the open market, far weaker than the official rate, reflecting the economic impact of the prolonged conflict.
