ZK-Rollup
A Layer 2 blockchain scaling solution that executes transactions off the main chain (Layer 1) and generates a cryptographic validity proof (a zero-knowledge proof) that is submitted to the base layer to verify the correctness of all bundled transactions. ZK-rollups inherit the security of the underlying Layer 1 blockchain while dramatically increasing throughput and reducing transaction costs. They are considered one of the most promising Ethereum scaling technologies and are deployed by projects including zkSync, StarkNet, Polygon zkEVM, and Scroll.
