The Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 Index (FTSE 100 or 'Footsie') represents the 100 largest companies by market capitalisation on the London Stock Exchange. It is the benchmark for UK equities and a proxy for the health of the British economy, though many constituents earn the majority of their revenue internationally.
