Cable
Cable is a slang term used in forex markets to refer to the GBP/USD currency pair. The term originates from the transatlantic telegraph cable laid in the 19th century, which was used to transmit exchange rates between London and New York. It remains one of the most heavily traded currency pairs in the world and is particularly active during the London and New York trading sessions.
Example
“Cable rallied sharply after the Bank of England surprised markets with a hawkish rate decision.”
