Cyprus Pounds (CYP)

The Cyprus Pound was the official currency of Cyprus, abbreviated as CYP in forex markets, before the country adopted the euro on January 1, 2008. It was replaced at a fixed conversion rate to the euro, marking Cyprus's entry into the eurozone. The Cyprus Pound had been in circulation since 1879 during British colonial rule and was subdivided into 100 cents.

Before Cyprus adopted the euro in 2008, forex traders could trade EUR/CYP pairs. The Cyprus Pound was converted at a fixed rate of 0.585274 CYP per euro when the transition took place.
