European Free Trade Association (EFTA)
The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) is a trade organization of four countries — Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland — that operates in parallel to the EU. It promotes free trade and economic integration among its members and with global partners.
Example
“Switzerland, as an EFTA member, negotiated its own bilateral trade agreements with the EU rather than joining the single market, giving Swiss financial institutions a unique regulatory position in European markets.”
