Indicator
A mathematical calculation based on price, volume, or open interest data used to forecast future market movements and guide trading decisions. Indicators fall into categories such as trend-following, momentum, volatility, and volume-based.

“For example, the RSI (Relative Strength Index) is a popular momentum indicator — when it reads above 70, it suggests the asset may be overbought and due for a pullback.”
