Mempool
The waiting area for unconfirmed Bitcoin transactions. When you send a transaction, it first enters the mempool before being picked up by miners and included in a block.
Example
“During a Bitcoin network congestion event, over 300,000 unconfirmed transactions sat in the mempool, causing fees to spike as users bid higher to get their transactions confirmed faster.”
