SHA
Secure Hash Algorithm, a family of cryptographic hash functions widely used in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency mining. SHA-256, used by Bitcoin, converts input data into a fixed-length 256-bit hash output.

“Bitcoin miners use SHA-256 to hash block headers repeatedly, competing to find a hash below the network's target difficulty in order to validate new blocks.”
