Slashing
A penalty mechanism in proof-of-stake networks where validators lose a portion of their staked tokens for malicious behavior or failing to perform validation duties correctly.
Example
“An Ethereum validator lost 1 ETH through slashing after their node went offline for an extended period and was penalized for failing to attest to blocks.”
