Consolidation
A period where price moves within a relatively narrow range, showing indecision between buyers and sellers. Often occurs after a strong trend move before the next directional move begins.
Example
“After rallying 20%, the stock entered a two-week consolidation phase between $85 and $90 before breaking out to new highs on earnings.”
